Hit the spacebar to enter the keyboard backlight settings: hit the down arrow to select a default keyboard light timer. 15 seconds and 30 seconds are barely better than the default. So pick '1 minute' or '5 minutes' (what I picked, but my laptop is nearly always connected to a power source, very rarely running on battery).
I recently bought an Acer Aspire R13 R7-372T Laptop. I noticed that the keyboard backlight was never on. I tried the keyboard shortcut to increase the backlight brightness but to no avail. I tried that on the pre-installed Windows 10 and also on Ubuntu 16.10.
How do I debug the problem?
Thanks

Turns out the keyboard shipped with the laptop was broken. I contacted the vendor and send them the laptop and they replaced the keyboard.

I have a Toshiba laptop. I have been searching for how to change how long the back light stays on for keyboard. I always use my laptop plugged in so power settings aren't a concern for me. I'm familiar with going to power settings for managing but have not seen a specific direction for having the keyboard backlight to stay on longer. I really love the convenience of it. If I know the steps of making change I can note it if I would want to change the setting back if I'm using it on battery. Thanks.
